Titan SP3 for Alfa 33
Titan Suspension Review (DISCLAIMER: I’m not a professional, in fact I’m barely literate so take everything I say with a grain of salt). First Impressions: What’s in the box? - The kit comes with the four struts, the adjustment spanner type things for the ride height and also the stiffness adjusters which plug into the top of the front struts. It would have been nice if the kit had came with a couple stickers (which you guys should do because marketing!!) Features - All the features are listed on the product page online. Nothing extra to report here. Price - The Titan SP3 Coilovers for my car came it at AUD2000, but I used an offer code which I will have in the description which can save you guys 50 bucks, and it supports a local racing team as well. Even then it’s still a bit pricey, as there are other options on the market for less, but this by far seemed the most reliable looking and most suitable for my use. As we get a bit further into the review, you can see if the price is justifiable, and I’ll give you a hint in saying it is. Packaging - The packaging, as much as I wanted to praise it was kinda poor. Because this is not a commonly selling coil over kit, it came in a kind of generic box and not like they have on their social media pages. The coilovers were wrapped in a single sleeve of bubble wrap each and were separated by double-thick cardboard. They were pretty snug in there but there was a few spots the coilovers actually penetrated the box. Luckily there was no actual damage to them because of their great construction which I will iterate further in a second. Some of the install tools were kind of just floating around in the box too, but the box was sealed up well enough so there was no way it would have gotten lost. Looks - the suspension obviously look phenomenal. The design is sleek and simple with no ****** colours, but it’s not like it matters when it’s under your car. What really matters is the construction quality. This too is exceedingly good. The threaded body comes with grease on it so the adjustments are able to just glide over them without getting caught or seizing. The metal used is thick and weighty, with pretty damn good looking welds which attach the parts of the suspension mounts to the coilover’s body. The shocks also have dust boots around them, which these days are pretty standard but is still good to see I personally didn’t get the camber-caster plates because Alfa Romeo tuned the 33’s suspension in a specific way, and it feels great stock so why change it? The Install: We started out by doing the rear coil-overs, which ended up taking us a day on its own. Overall it went smooth-ish except for a couple things to do with the car itself and not the suspension. That being said, it was still kind of annoying trying to fit them. When they’re, in, you can’t change the ride height. That once again is the fault of Alfa Romeo and it’s something the Titan team obviously had to just engineer around and they did well enough. The front was even easier. Only downside in the front is a couple spacer type things that are welded in on the stock struts are not on the Titan kit, so it is difficult to install the front struts alone. Long story short, get a friend. The ride: The street balanced kit on its softest setting handles great and feels the same as the stock suspension. I was concerned it may be too hard, but that just isn’t the case. Obviously, the suspension gets less comfortable when the stiffness is adjusted, but it’s all up to personal preference. What I will say is there is a great range from soft to stiff. The car sits really low, even if the suspension isn’t on its minimum height so if your goal is to lower your car, this will do just fine. Most importantly, the car finally feels safe again with the new struts. Before the SP3 kit was installed, you could hear rattling and the steering wouldn’t feel tight, but that is completely mitigated now. For pillowball mounts, the car also is surprisingly quiet. With other kits I have heard complaints from owners about how painful the direct metal to metal contact is sound-wise, but there is very little change over stock with the Titan SP3. Final verdict: Might as well them if you have the cash. If it works for me, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for you.
